Meet Que

Que Chandler is an Alabama native, a mother of three, a dedicated community advocate, and your Tuscaloosa neighbor.

 

With over a decade of experience as an organizer and champion for West Tuscaloosa families, Que has continuously demonstrated her commitment to uplifting the community.

 

Currently serving as a Regional Organizer with the African American Civil Rights Heritage Sites Consortium, Que works to preserve the cultural heritage of Alabama’s historic Black communities.

Que is also a proud member of the Junior League of Tuscaloosa, where she contributes to advancing women’s leadership and creating meaningful community impact. Through her work with the Junior League, Que is committed to the organization’s core values of overcoming poverty, advancing education, improving health outcomes, and promoting safety.

Her advocacy extends to her support for unions and workers, believing in fair wages, the right to organize, and access to workforce development opportunities. Que has organized District 1 Clean Up Days, improving the daily lives of residents and revitalizing neighborhoods.

 

As a leader, Que is deeply committed to listening to the voices of her neighbors, ensuring that every decision she makes is informed by the needs and concerns of District 1 residents.

Her passion for youth and education is evident in her leadership roles, including founding the Girl Power Book Club and the Secret Mom’s Club, supporting young girls of color and Tuscaloosa students.

Que's Vision: Building a Better Future for District 1

1. Community Empowerment and Economic Justice: 

 

Que will advocate for responsible, equitable development that protects families from displacement, supports minority-owned businesses, and pushes for living wages. She will champion workforce development initiatives that equip residents with the skills they need for sustainable employment and career advancement, always listening to ensure these programs meet the needs of the community.

2. Education and Youth Engagement:


A mother and former PTA leader, Que is passionate about improving schools, expanding youth programs, and creating mentorship opportunities. She believes in preparing the next generation for success by connecting youth to local job training and workforce development programs, with input from families and students.

3. Environmental Justice and Infrastructure:

Que is committed to clean, safe neighborhoods, sustainable infrastructure, and ensuring all residents have access to environmentally sound public spaces. She will work closely with District 1 residents to address environmental concerns and prioritize community-led solutions.
